Chicago Dec 7th 1892 My dear Tate: I think that I have answered all of your questions both by wire and letter, but have not gone into details much regarding business here. We are doing well and have the rosiest kind of an outlook. We are selling business machines, and have P.D. Amour+Co. + Smith+Co among our latest patrons. This office is going to be a big success and I feel absolutely sure of the business now that I have had a chance to practically test our plans, we are right old fellow, and we will make Mr. Edison glad he has given us the chance to show what we can do. I know that you appreciate the difficulty I am laboring under in getting territory organized not having competent help as the guild. Yet I have not been idle I can assure for and will no doubt be anle to make much better work now that Mr. Jones is coming to help me. I shall keep him here a few days + then let him take a show at Michigan and cover whatever territory may be left for him at that time. I shall then send him probably to Colorado. I shall not be in New York until the 19th having recd notice today that my case has been postponed until then. Do you think that you can come here before then for a meeting of the Chicago Co.? + otherwise I am given to understand that Mr. Dickinson would probably consider an offer for his Chicago Central Stock, do you think a purchaser could be found for it? How are youanyway? I suppose not much time to think about anything but work. Yours faithfully Lombard
