Dear Sir:-
Can you inform me what solution was used to moisten the paper in the register of The Domestic Telegraph Co? You will perhaps remember that a Tellurium pen was used & that a brown mark was made on the paper when a signal was sent in from the Messenger boxes. The current was sent through the Tellurium pen from the Hydrogen end of the battery. This was many years ago but knowing the perfect system of your operations perhaps I may not be wrong in supposing that you might be able to recollect it & hope that it is not too much of a trespass upon your kindness to ask you for that formula if agreeable.
Yours,
[Signed James E. Brown]
