Editor's Notes

15-8059. My dear Mina and Mr. Edison, [beloved?] ## Hear I am at my old place and at my old pleasure. I call writing to you a pleasure for what other way as good as writing to dear ones. It is next best to being with our dear friendes. I know I made a grate many mistakes both in composing and in spelling and and am a very poor writer but I know I do that in talking writing dear ones and they look it all over and say but very little if any thing about it and I feel as though they will when I write to them. ## I do sincerely wish you all a happy New Year, no doubt but you all have enjoyed this day as it is the first day of the week and the month and of a longer time, the year. I hope the sun is as birght there, will you [share?] with us this morning when we first awoke, it was rather dark and [gloomy?], but as the time passed by it grew brighter and lighter all the time so now we are enjoying a very beautiful afternoon. I do sincerely trust that will be our good fortune if there is a dark cloud if not any larger than a pin head it will all be clear away and nothing but happiness and love left. ## Well, this morning for the first time we llistened to our new minister, Mr. B.J vincent, we enjoyed his falk very much. It was only a talk as he said he only gave his first appearance among his new workers as a talk, hoping to get better accainted in that way, they all seemed to like the the church and the parsonage, they have just left hear as they thought they had better go and get ready for [evening?], they are all well and seem to be contented with there lot. ## Well my dear ones you do not know how much I have thought of all from little William up to old Mr. Edison and have wondered[how?] all were, and if those that have first been there making so much work and disturbances all through the house was missed or thought of today. I think we will be missed on acount of the [navies a fud?...maresapan?] we maid while there with you, Grace and I don’t have to speak of the difference in our homes both in lookes and ways, it seemes so different in every way. Grace said she thought she could hardly leave as she wanted to stay another day any way, but she thought she had better come so as to [be] ready for work. I think she will feel relieved when she has gone through that grate hard [talk? Deal?] of standing up before so many and reading womething of her own composing, dear Mina why not you and Mr. Edison come and witness her [aferawill?] on the stage now without any fun, why can't you come, it will do you so much good, do com. You can leave just as well as not by that time, now do come make [arrangements?] to come a time to [------?] the dear boys, stay as long as you can, your work will all [be do?] any good, [bessie?] can take care of the house and Mr. Edison 's work will be about fixed as he will like it to now do [cover?] them. We will look for you. ## I will now let dear Grace write on the rest of this paper, wish you a happy New Year and good luck in every way. I will close for present from present, from Mother ## [Note: Grace Miller writes the second half of this letter] ## Dear Mame, ## I wish now you have came home for I should like so much to have you with me. I meant to ask you how you recited those idiom lessons. Do you leave to know all of them so that you can recite them them right off in class. I would like to know very much for I don't [have] to do more than is necessary. ## Write to me soon--I would write longer if it were not so dark & I had anything to say. ## I suppose you are awfully sorry, my stock is exhausted. ## With much love and a Happy New Year, I [illeg] ## Your devoted sis-- Grace
