[FI001ACC], Letter from Mary Valinda (Mrs Lewis) Miller to Mina Miller (Mrs Thomas A.) Edison, Thomas Alva Edison, February 18th, 1888

Editor's Notes

15-8063. My dear Mina and Mr. Edison, ## I just receieved a letter from you dear Mina. I was glad to get it and now if I can say one word that would cheer or make life more easy for you I will be glad to sit right downe and write a few lines to you. I will try and it may be I can get one word in that will help you but if I cannot I hope you will not think I do not want to help you in some way. Time is flying fast and it will not be long until we shall be with each other, that is if you want me at that time. I feel that I am of so little use to you [may one?] I had better stay at home if I can do any thing in the least I will ge glad to be with you. I hope you and all are well and happy. ## Well dear Mina, I was [stopped?] yesterday so now I will try my luck, but I hardly think you will think of me today as you have your dear pa and Grace with you and I know when they get started they are grate talkers and good company. I expect and hope all were at church and enjoyed it. I do think going to church is a grate help and comfort and a privlage we should not miss if it is possible to help it. If Mr. Edison could hear better I would insist on his going but I know it is hard and not plesent to go any place to not hear what is said, but if he could make up his mind to go for others it would be good and you would feel better and more like going but we will try and be content and do all the good we can at home and where ever we can. We had a very good sermon and Sunday school every evening and in fact all the time is taken up with union meetings. Mrs. Vincent holds a womans meeting at the church this evening and the men go to the hall. It seemes strange that it is so but they say all cannot get in at one place so they will by this way hoping all can get seats at least get in, The sun about us is not quite as bright as last sabath but it is plesent out doors. I hope it is as bright and all are enjoying this life as well as last Sunday and we are one weak better in our lessones and We know our duty and work better than a week ago, it is our privilage to grow and be wiser every day and I trust we are growing in grace and love and wisdom all the time. Dear Mina I do hope dear Thomas and William are both better and in fact well. It is rather a [tash?] to have two sick at once in a house and dear little boys there that can hardly [take to thir to feet?] still long enough to get well. I hope you have good help and they will take good care of the little boys and you will take care of yourself and Mr. Edison. That is enough for you at present. Sometimes I feel afraid you have to much company and Grace had better come home. I had no idea [aim?] a was a going to stay so long. Grace was consoling herself on having a good long visit with you. She said she had not ben alone with you since you were married. She will feel disapointed I am afraid now dear if you are tired of Grace or having company let Grace go and stay a little time with [Mamie? Maurice?] Well [failing?] I will close hoping you are just as happy as this life can make us as you dear, pa and Grace and morfe, your dear husband. What a happy day and time for all that are with you and I do trust all are well dear Mina. I would love to hear of him from you but if you don't feel like writing do not but while dear Grace is with you she can write for you. Let her tell me everything, please except my love and best wishes also. Love to dear Grace also to dear little boys. From Mother
