Title
[LB005248], Letter from Charles Batchelor to Edward Hibberd Johnson, October 3rd, 1879
Editor's Notes
Yours of 21st Sept to hand. Of course the transmitter business is now all settled so I have nothing to say on that sc[ore.] I am making you tracings one of the co[nnec?]tions previous to our `cutting out the Tertiary [when?] speaking,' and one after, in order to show you that if you do not like the arrangeemnt, then you will find inside the coil box two wires [?] up which if connected together leave it in the state as it was at first. We have given Bergmann an order for the 2000 telephones the 50 switchboards, and also 250 transmitters for [our?] 500. His is working like a beaver and I am perfectly sure he will come out all right. We have just given him two models and he [?] for them and the first time they were put on they talked right out loud a pretty good crierion that we are o.k. on telephones! In addition to the diagrams I am making a tracing of the new transmitter which I thought you might like to have although you know of course all about it. They may not catch this mail but shall send today anyhow.
