I enclose herewith sketches makred No. 1 No. 2 No. 3 No. 4 No. 5a No. 5b No. 6 No. 7A No. 7B No. 8 No. 9 No. 10 No. 11 No. 12 No. 13 No. 14 illustrating inventions of mine some of which in part and some in toto avoid the Page Patent. If the Page Patent is finally sustained in whole or in part some value will attach to them in so far as they may avoid such Patent to avoid it so far as sustained. I desire therefore to tender them to the Western Union Telegaph co upoin the following [next few words illegible on film but seems to ask that WU pay expenses for procuring patents] If the Page Patent be not finally sustained the Co. to be at no further expense therefor. If the Page Patent be finally sustained and value therefore attaches to them as above indicted they are to be considered as included in my contract with the Co. dated March 22d 1877 and a price is to be paid, to be then fixed under the providision of such contract. In the mean time the Co. is to have the [illegible on film] Further if before the final determination of the Patge Patent the Co should desire to assign the entire title by proper assignment I will make such assignment upon the determination and payment of a price in the way provided for in my contact witht he Co. That is to say a price to be agreed upon mutually or by arbitrators as provided. Please answer as to the acceptance by Yyour Company of these terms. [Note that the signed letter sent to Green seems to be in the WU Collection at the Smithsonian]
