[LB008049], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to James Gillespie Blaine, U.S. State Dept. Secretary, March 11th, 1881
Editor's Notes
[James Blaine] Thanks for your esteemed favor; must regretfully decline invitation. "Having completed the experiments on my system of electric lighting I have removed into New York with the object of personal superintending its development. It is imperative that this should receive[?] my immediate and undivided attention and am therefore reluctantly aobliged to refuse the very flattering offer you are so good as to make." Have telegraphed you to this effect.
