Title

[LB011292], Letter from Richard Nott Dyer to Edward Hibberd Johnson, February 16th, 1882

Editor's Notes

In accordance with instructions from Mr Edison I forward herewith the papers for English Patent no. 43, from which you can have prepared the necessary papers and drawings for formal presentation.##Mr. Edison instructed me to advise you to make arrangements for the procuring of the future English Patents, for which you will be furnished data from time to time. He wishes the patents taken out as communications from him. Before preparing this case, I made a very careful examination of Mr Edison's English Patents, and of such other English Patents that we have. Our set however is not complete, and it would be well for your solicitor to examine the patents for a year or two past before preparing the formal papers.##Please keep me informed of changes that may be made, dates of filing &c so that Mr Edison's records here may be continued.##I have forwarded today, a copy of eclosed papers to Mr. Batchelor at Paris, so that Continental Patents may be procured from that point. If it is desirable to ddelay the filing of the Continental cases, you will please communicate directly with him. You can refer to the case as Continental No. 33, in writing him.##Your solicitor might be able to suggest an arrangement by which correspondence between you and Mr Batchelor with reference to each case could be obviated.##It would please me greatly to have the benefit of your solicitor's criticism on the preparation of Mr Edison's case from this time forth.
