- In accordance with instructions from Mr Edison, I enclose copies of papers which have this day been sent to Mr Johnson to be patented in England. The devices are new and are of value in isolated lighting. If your people think they are of sufficient importance, they can take out patents on them in the Countries under their control. Please notify Mr Edison or myself what the decision is in the matter and in what countries patents are taken out, giving dates of filing, patenting &c in each country, so that Mr Edison's record may be kept up.##It may be necessary to delay the filing of the Continental cases until the English Provisional is filed. Mr Johnson has been written to communicate with you on this subject. The English case is numbered 43.
