Title
[LB011311], Letter from Richard Nott Dyer to Theodore Newton Vail, American Bell Telephone Co, February 17th, 1882
Editor's Notes
Mr Edison handed me the papers prepared on the part of your Company with relation to the automatic cut out for magneto coil.##He was satisfied fully with the spirit of the arrangement proposed by you but not wholly with the form. He does not desire to transfer the invention and prospective patent while it is uncertain that he has any property to convey; and, since the agreement on your part is conditional, his part of the agreement should fairly be based on the same conditions. On the other hand he is willing to bind himself to the fullest extent, to transfer all rights in the invention and patent, when the patent is granted, to your Company.##I return the papers prepared by you, and inclose the agreement which I have prepared, embodying the substance of Mr Edison's news.##Please let Mr Edison, directly or through me, know your views upon the matter, at your earliest convenience.
