Your letter of 25th Feby addressed to Edison came to hand after his departure for Florida & up to this writing he has not returned neither has he favoured me with his address for upwards of two weeks. So I think I had better reply to your inquiry as to Special [Punch] Press.##The Press we have at the machine Works cost I find from #3500 to $4000 It has two discs one for the small sheet iron plates which form the Armatures core of a Z Dynamo and the other for the Iron plates which form the core of the armature of Central Station machine. we have not at present had a [Disc] made for working the Copper Discs. I had anticipated your request for details of special machinery by giving to the Machine Works an order for drawings of all their special machinery. I gave this order on 2[8]5h Feby but for some reason best known to the Superintendents own sweet self nothing had been done as to the Drawings up to 16th March. However I am told (!) that a man is now working on them & just as soon as they are ready I will send them on. Don't you think you could make these Special tools from our working Drawings much cheaper than we can do it here.##As to Drawings of Central Station Dynamo Edison promised me that he would give me a letter of explanation as to them immediately on his return. I appreciate the importance of your getting them as quickly as possible & will see that there is no unnecessary delay. The alterations made in every successive machine since yours was turned out made many alterations necessary & now in the Central Stations machines on course of construction have considerable further alterations that are not in the drawings - Hence the delay in sending them to you
