Title
[LB015189], Letter from Samuel Insull to Grosvenor Porter Lowrey, January 22nd, 1883
Editor's Notes
I enclose you herewith letter from Mr Painter commenting on & in reply to yours of 15th January.##I think you are wrong in saying that "it is but a short time since that you informed me when walking in the street one day that Mr Painter wanted fifteen shares of Isolated Stock" (You mean 16 shares). It was soon after your return from Canada that I told you of it & you said that you thought I was wrong in the number of shares I found out from Mr Puacey that the number I stated was correct & informed you so and there the matter stood for some time.##In reply to your questions I beg to say##(1st) Mr Painter wishes to get 16 shares of the old Stock that is 32 on the basis of the present capitalization##(2)nd He is ready to take them immediately##(3rd) Mr Edison will not contribute any shares towards this number as he says he gave Mr Painter his 20 shares of Paucus Stock for services rendered in connection with the Edison Light & he feels that he ought not to be asked to do anything further.
