- Referring to your favor of 6th inst Mr Reid is mistaken. Prof H. Draper desired to give a Dinner to the American Academy of Service & wanted to use our light, but his Gas Engine was so very unsteady that the Light flickered. while experimenting I devised a compensator to make them steady & Prof Draper made it and put it on his engine and it was a great success the lights being perfectlys teady Mr Reid was at the Dinner
