- Editor's Notes
- I enclose you herewith a statement of your Personal Account with T.A.E. showing balance to your credit of $2329.70 on 1st Feby.##Mr Edison holds the following securities for your account##4 Shares Edison Electric Light Co Stock (60 percent paid in name of Rosanne [Batchelor]##73 shares ditto 50 per cent paid in name of Chas Batchelor##54 Shares Edison Co for Isolated Light & Stock (Full Paid)##169 shares Edison Electric Light Co of Europe Stock (Fabbri has option on this)##3 De[tenture] Bonds (for $500 each) of the Edison Electric Light Co of Europe##91 shares Edison's Indian & Colonial Electric Co Stock. (Drexel Morgan & Co have not yet handed this Stock to Mr Edison)##& Commercial Fire Insurance Coys Policy for $2000 expiring December 30th 1886.##The only item in the account which you may have difficulty in understanding is the debit of $1269.83 on 31st January. This amount is one fifth of a note given by Mr Edison to the White Estate of Philadelphia. It appears that Bailey owed them some money under some agreement as to Brush Telephone & the money should have come out of the proceeds of the Brush Telephone Sale. Edison said that as you got one fifth of the Brush Telephone money I ought to charge you with one fifth of this debt & I have accordingly done so.##The money received from Indian & Australian Light (or rather most of it) was at once reinvested in [--] shares & that is the reason that [91] shares is debited to you. When Edison gets his "B" shares you will of course get your share of them So you will of the English "B" shares but so far we have had none delivered.##Everything here is paid up. Your 10% Interest in Edison machine Works (which you will notice has brought very handsome resale); your 10% Interest in Edisons one third of Bergmann & Co; There will be no further [assignment] on the above. Your 10% Lamp Co Interest is paid up (Sometime within Six months there will have to be an assessment of $25,000 on this account). we owe 10% ($730) on your [73] shares of Edison Electric Light Cos new Stock. I will pay this as soon as Edison has some money He is very tight just now. There is a new issue of Isolated Stock which the Machine Works will pay for in machines which will give you 54 more shares of Isolated at some future date##I hope this will all prove satisfactory to you
