- Editor's Notes
- Referring to your favor of 16th inst. I have already committed myself to Columbia College and must give them time to decide but I have the impression that they will do nothing - after that the Stevens Institute desire to establish a course. I have several men who were examined at the Stevens Institute and they are the best I have. The Cooper Institute are about starting a night School to learn Engineers and others who already have positions, but of course this is a different matter. This is a great advantage in having the School near New York but if neither Columbia College or the Stevens Institute will start a course in the proper manner, I will be very happy to cooperate with you.##The tendency at both places is towards too much theory and impracticable Professors
