Title
[LB016209], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to Edison Electric Illuminating Co (Lawrence), Frederick Emerson Clarke, April 28th, 1883
Editor's Notes
I enclose you herewith estimate for the creation of Central Station Plant at Lawrence amounting to $35768##With reference to the Conductors ([Batchelor] estimate of which is also enclosed) they are based on the assumption that ten candle lamps would be used and will carry 4435 of those lamps If sixteen candle Lamps are used the conductors will carry about 2800 lamps.##If you [were] to cut off the conductors beyond Jackson Street the cost of the [Street Installation] will be $7982 and if subsequently you decide to lay No 6 [Feeder] and the balance of the mains the work would cost you $3227 or $[360] more than if the whole work is done in the first case. I enclose you these [prints] one showing lamps and the other showing feeders##With relation to the dynamo you now have I can [alter] it to the capacity of the No 4 Machine (450 16 candle lights) for about $200 or $300. The [exact] amount I cannot state just now. This will require [new] pulleys on the 8 1/2 x 10 engine you now have [costing] $25 or $30.
