Title
[LB016393], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to Edison's Indian and Colonial Electric Co, May 21st, 1883
Editor's Notes
Referring to your request that I should estimate for putting the electric light into the Australian Institute [----] I would state that after looking carefully into the matter I have thought it best to refer your correspondence to Mr Batchelor If it were a large plant that you require say for Central Station lighting I should be most happy to undertake to do the work for you, but being a comparatively small affair it is impossible for me, without greatly prejudicing my work here, to undertake to send men to Australia to do the work wanted done at the Institute.##Mr. Batchelor left here for Paris on Saturday and if you communicate with him he can doubtless arrange to send men out for you.##I am very sorry that I am not able to comply with your request in this matter but it is solely owing to the tremendous amount of work we have here and the necessity we have for using all good men that we can possibly get. .
