Editor's Notes

Your favor of 2nd came to hand this morning##If you will read my letter of 1st & substitute Thomas A. Edison for the Construction Dept much of 1st will be correct. I should have used my own name isnted of the Constr. Dept. in writing you.##I cannot understand what you mean by your being [tempted] with I would assure you that I had a Contract with your Co by which you were to pay me in cash for your plant. This you have never been able to do; furthermore a basis of settlement with your Coy was arrived at by your Board of Directors as representing your Coy & Mr Insull as representing myself [illegible] & under that settlement you were to pay balance eue me in the Stock of your Company. $4100 Stock was delivered to me - the balance was to be paid immediately your Capital could be [-----] & which was forthwith done: but I have never received the balance of the Stock & force very considerable time could get no answer to my letters in relation to same. My accounts as rendered were accepted by your Company & I must confess that if anyone has been trifled with I think that person is myself & I do not feel at all disposed to do anything with relation to the matter & you complain of until I have some guarantee that the settlement agreed upon by your Board will be carried out
