Title

[LB018338], Letter from Samuel Insull to Ohio Edison Electric Installation Co, Archibald B Stuart, September 8th, 1884

Editor's Notes

I have your favor of the 9th. September, and cannot conceal my disappointment at not receiving a remittance from you, as requested in mine of the 4th. inst.##I think you entirely misunderstand our position with relation to your stations in Ohio, Although I fully recognize that the Edison people are as much interested in the success of your stations as you are yourselves, yet I cannot for a moment recognize that this should be given as a reason for long outstanding bills not being paid to us, inasmuch as we simply acted as contractors, and as such should be settled with for the material [supplied] by us. I can assure you that we take very great interest in the success of your stations, as I do not think that it is just of you to state that you take more interest than we do. But I can assure you we also take very great interest in the question of [covering] our liabilities, and inasmuch as we are not bloated [capitalists,] it is impossible for us to do this unless we can collect monies due us. If we were not in need of the money we [---] not [---] you for it.
