[LB018437], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to Ohio Edison Electric Installation Co, Archibald B Stuart, September 30th, 1884

Editor's Notes

I have your favor of 25th inst. Mr Rich states that Mr Price of Middletown has no claim against us. Mr Price says that he has so there the matter stands. If you will state that we should pay Mr Price we are willing to do so.We would point out however that unless you remit to us it is impossible for us to pay our bills but we would state that we do not think you have reason to complain as we have paid up all bills of an undisputed character. I wired you this morning that I must have remittance for the balance of my account. I absolutely need the money & cannot wait longer for it as I am not a large capitalist & cannot allow claims to remain unsettled so long. I shall expect to receive a remittance in New York [Exchange] in reply to my telegram of this morning as at this late date I cannot possibly use a note.
