I have your favor of [14]th inst. I think you will have trouble with platina wire if your intention is to use it to burn the wool as carbon combining with platina causes it to melt. Possibly nickel maybe answer but this would be destroyed in a short time. To keep six [inches] of nickel wire at a temperature sufficient to burn wool (the wire being about ten thousandths of an inch in diameter) you would require a small dynamo costing about $60.00. The same results can be obtained with a Battery for about $12 or $15 but of course the Battery would require constant renewal
