Title
[LB020345], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to Compagnie Continentale Edison, June 9th, 1885
Editor's Notes
Referring to your letter of 9th May I have no objection to the alteration for pupose in Article IV of the Treaty for the fusion of the Paris Companies to which now reads that the royalty is payable on lamps manufactured or sold where as you desire that the acrticle (IV) should read that the royalty is payable on lamps employed or sold. You may consider this as my authority to make such alteration. ## With relation to the alteration you propose in Article V I would point out to you that the [countries? for which you own my paent rights are France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Denmark, and Russia and that my rights on other European countries do not belong to you. Therefore the wording of Article V as stated by you is erronous and should read so that it covers only the countries above quotes. With exeception (?) to the addition you desire to this article I cannot see the reason for it at all in as much as I have no right to give excuses away to the fact that the Patents for the above mentioned countries are no longer owned by me.
