[LB020466B], Letter from Samuel Insull to Compagnie Continentale Edison, September 1st, 1885
Editor's Notes
We have your favor of the 19th. Ulto., and also received your cable with relation to the Siemen suit in Belgium. ##We regret to say that neither Mr. Edison nor ourselves have any information which we can give you other than that which you possess. Our English friends found it desirable to make a friendly agreement with Siemens, and have for the last two years paid them a royalty of six per cent, we think, on the shop price of all Edison dynamos. ## With relation to your cables as to the fusion and German contracts, these matters are receiving the earnest attention of our Board of Directors, and immediately a decision is arrived at advices will be sent you by cable. The matters are of such great importance that we found that considerable time is consumed in the consideration of same. Since Mr. Upton's return, however, our attention has been constantly given to this matter, and we hope that some decision will be arrived at in the course of a few days.
