You may doubtless remember that at the time my Carbon Telephone Transmitter Patent was under discussion in England, it was found necessary to disclaim that part of the patent referring to the phonograph. ##The late Alderman Nottage of the London Stereoscopic Company held from me, by license, my English phonograph rights, and when the disclaimer above referred to was made, a payment of a considerable sum of money was paid to him in order to get rid of the above-referred-to license. Whether this money was paid by the United Telephone Co. or prior to the organization of that company by the Edison Telephone Co. of London, I am not aware. I enclose you letters to both the United Telephone Co. and the liquidator of the Edison Telephone Co. so that whichever company paid it, you will be able to get at the necessary information. ##I desire you to get the documents in the matter with a vew to finding out how much was paid Mr. Alderman Nottage, as I am under the impression that I am entitled to a share of the money he received. It will be necessary for you to have a copy of my original contract with Mr. Alderman Nottage as to the phonograph and this I will send forward to you by a succeeding mail. ##If I am entitled to a share of the money Mr. Nottage received, I shall want you as my solicitors to recover it from his Estate. ##{Added as postscript:} The liquidator of the Edison Telephone Co. was, I believe, Mr. Price of Messrs.
