Title
[LB022033A], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to Compagnie Continentale Edison, April 19th, 1886
Editor's Notes
A copy of your letter of the 31st. December addressed to Messrs. Dyer & Seely, with relation to their account for services rendered in connection with obtaining a Canadian certificate for you for the purpose of sustaining your French patents, has been handed to me and I have been requested to write you with relation to the account referred to. It was solely in your interest that I instructed Messrs. Dyer & Seely to prosecute inquiries with a view to obtaining the information which they sent you, and I therefore fail to see why you should refuse to pay their account. If your Company does not pay it, the expense will fall upon myself, whereas the agreement by which your Company acquired my European patents contemplates that all expenses in connection therewith will be borne by them and not by [me.--blotted out] Messrs. Dyer & Seely have made a demand on me for payment of their bill, and I must therefore ask you to give this matter immediate attention, feeling sure that after this explanation you will remit in liquidation of the account. Yours very truly, [signed by Insull]
