[LB022067], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to Great Northwestern Telegraph Co (Canada), Harvey Prentice Dwight, May 11th, 1886
Editor's Notes
Referring to the circuit which we have in Canada, which was installed for the purpose of demonstrating to you the working of the Phonoplex System, I wish you would kindly inform me what your decision is in reference to additional circuits--also whether you desire to retain the instrumetns you are now using. ## Through Mr Wiman we made you a proposition regarding royalty, and placed the same at one half the amount charged in the United States. Viz. Fifty Dollars ($50) per year per circuit, but the latter gentleman has not advised us of your views. Mr Wiman being now in Europe I write thus direct to you as, having dispensed with the efficient services of Mr Pike, we are now not represented in Canada. ## I take this opportunity of informing you that we have applied the phonoplex system to quadruplex [word underlined] wires and are running a circuit between N.Y. and Philadelphia on the lines of the B&O Telegraph Company, who also have a number of circuits on simple morse wires. ## We are also prepared to equip duplex wires in the same way. ## I shall be pleased to hear from you at your earliest convenience. Yours truly
