Editor's Notes

Your favor of 11th inst. addressed to Mr Edison has been handed to me by him for reply, I having charge of his phonoplex interests in Canada and the United States. ## I beg to say that inasmuch as you have only one circuit to equip we will be obliged to alter slightly the proposition made to you in a previous letter. ## We will furnish you with two [word underlined] (2) complete sets of phonoplex instruments, and provide necessary condenser equipment for intermediate offices between Montreal and Ottawa, sending out expert to put the system in operation, provided that if the circuit proves practicable you will pay the [asked?-written above the line] expenses of such expert in addition to purchasing the instrument and complying with the terms of our general contract--a copy of which will be forwarded to you in a day or so. ## It is unusual for us to ask to be refunded the expense connected with the installation of a p[???] circuit, but as you have only one wire to equip, and as our r[???]s in Canada are very small, we feel it necessary to make this one of the conditions. ## After the terminal offices are put in operation you can phonoplex as many intermediate stations as you desire. ## It would require about two weeks to complete the work after passing instruments through the Customs House. ## Kindly let us know as early as possible if this is satisfactory to you so that we may [???] our engagements for the [???] [???] in accordance with your [???]. Yours faithfully
