- TAE to Villard LB022264 860724 [selected]I have had repeated conversations with Mr. Upton on the subject of the Edison Electric Light Company of Europe, and your kind offer to act on their behalf and obtain from the Compagnie Continentale Edison such a satisfactory contract as will enable you to insure to the European Co. a minimum income which will allow of your raising money to enale them to pay off their indebtedness and the bonds on which you have defaulted. ## I am personally especially obliged to you for taking up this matter, and on satisfactory contract being signed, and the money being raised to meet the European Company's liabilities, I shall do myself the pleasure of handing you a certificate for 1,000 shares of stock of the Edison Electric Light Company of Europe, as an acknowledgement of your services in the matter. ## Trusting that this will be satisfactory to you, I remain
