Title
[LB023146], Letter from Samuel Insull to Edison Electric Light Co of Europe Ltd, Robert Livingston Cutting, Jr., December 9th, 1886
Editor's Notes
Referring to your letter as to the receipt for the founders shares, you will remember as the last meeting of the Company Mr. Edison and Mr. Batchelor were appointed a committee with power to order the power of attorney of the Company given to Mr. Villard or Mr. Upton with a view to negotiating a new contract in Paris. This contract has been negotiated and signed and its entire consumation is being seriously jeopardized by the non-receipt in Paris of the old founders shares which are to be exchanged for new founders shares. I think the action of the Board of Directors at the last meeting is giving Mr. Batchelor and Mr. Edison full power with relation to this matter, covers you entirely and I trust you will come to the same conclusion as it is of the utmost importance that the founders shares should be shipped to Paris hoping you see your way to delivering me the receipt of the Central Safe Deposit Company by bearer.
