- In reference to your letter of the 23rd instant regarding the Graphono, I beg to say that the manufacturers of this instrument are simply endeavoring to trade upon the reputation which Mr. Edison gained by the invention of his Phonograph. You wil lobserve that they have simply turned the name "Phonograph" around in order to arrive at "Graphono". Mr. Edison is at work now upon his Phonograph, and in a very short time will place upon the market an instrument which will by far excel the infringement above referred to. As soon as it is completed, I will advise you and we can doubtless make some arrangement for you to handle it in the West.
