- Editor's Notes
- I have recived your letter of the 18th inst and wired you to the effect that you misunderstand my letter 17th instant so far as it relates to royalties. I believe that TAE original idea was to charge a royaly of so much per set but he afterwards decided that it would be better to charge as much per circuit. All the contracts which we have made so far to provide for on a royalty of $100 per year for circuits Horan lines ,$150 duplex equpments and $200 for Quadruplex. This is regardless of the number of offices included in each circuits of the lenghth of the same. Homeof our licenses having adopted phonoplex on Duplex of Quadruplex wires, and believing that their not doing so was on the account of the larger anound charger by us for such circuits we recently concluded reduce these charges and make our royaltes unifor for all kinds of equpment. T desire to encourage the use of the phonoplex on quad and duplex wires I believe they can be wporked successfully and I thought that the recusistio? n of the royalties imposed wasa the first step necessary toward the end. I [---] some experiments between New York and Philadelphia on quad wire which were very successful, and I am anxious to get a cicuit of this somewhere in practical operation.
