Title
[LB025366], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to Dyer and Seely, October 31st, 1888
Editor's Notes
Sirs:- Enclosed five letters from Col. Gouraud and his patent attorney Mr Handinglam in relation to the effect of the short term patents on U.S. patents. I gather from all that has been said and written on this respect that Col. Gouraud has taken out a short term patent in Portugal in connection with cases 84 and 85, and is now trying to have it extended to the full term for which that country makes lack grants. The question seems to be will this Portugal patent already granted shortens the life of our U.S. patents on cases 84 and 85 if the former is extended subsequent to its issue to fifteen years. Please return answered correspondence with your reply,
