- Editor's Notes
- ] "In reference to your letter of 22d instant, if we were able at the present time, without a great deal of expense, to obtain the measurements from the underside of floor beams to the top of concrete foundations we could readily calculate the extra number of brick. The footings are several feet below the ground level, and to obtain these measurements would necessitate digging a trench all around the building. The inspector who had charge of that work at the time the extra brick were put in the foundations must have kept a record of the number of brick used, as he certainly anticipated certifying Mr. Everett's bill of extras, and would not have trusted so important a matter to guess work, nor would he have allowed it to become a necessary to trench the building subsequently in order to check Mr. Everett's bill. Kindly look into this matter further and advises us of the result." Yours very truly, [signed] TAE
