Title

[LB027775], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to Edward Hibberd Johnson, January 17th, 1889

Editor's Notes

"We are endeavoring to get together all the diplomas and medals awarded Mr. Edison at different exhibitions, and I have been advised by Mr. Hammer, that there was a medal awarded Mr. Edison some few years ago at Cincinnati, and at the time of the award the United State Co. got out an injunction to prevent the delivery of the same, the result of which was that the medal was never received by Mr. Edison. Mr. Hammer tells me that it can be obtained now simply by asking for it. There is another medal from Australia which is around somewhere, and Stern and Silverman have a diploma that belongs to Mr. Edison. Mr. Jenks and Mr. Stieringer have very kindly interested themselves in this matter, and Mr. Hammer has suggested that you appoint these gentlemen a Committee of two, to look up these diplomas and medals. I believe that they have already signified their willingness to take charge of the work." Yours very truly, AO Tate
