Title

[LB027841], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to Bergmann & Co, Edward Hibberd Johnson, January 21st, 1889

Editor's Notes

"Mr. Insull informs me he has had some conversation with Mr. Bergmann, during which Mr. Bergmann stated, as he is going to resign his position of Treasurer and General Manager of Bergmann & Co., he would like action taken in relation to the matter as early as convenient. I would suggest that you call a Board meeting of Bergman & Co. forthwith, and accept Mr. Bergmann's resignation, and elect Mr. Insull in his place. When Mr. Insull is elected, I should like his salary fixed at the rate of five thousand dollars per annum. It is my intention that this amount shall be taken off the remuneration which he at present receives from The Edison Machine Works as Gen'l. Manager and Treasurer of that Company. I shall not be able to be present at the meeting of Bergmann & Co's Directors, but this will not be necessary, as you can get a quorum without me. Mr. Insull will act for me in any matters in relation to this subject." Yours very truly, [signed] TAE
