"In reference to the attached, and in reply to your letter of 30th ult., Mr. Edison glanced at your patents and then turned them over to our Electrician, Mr. Kennelly, for a closer examination. You will detect Mr. Edison’s anticipation by his note on your letter returned herewith, and Mr. Kennelly in his report states that the principle upon which this invention rests has no basis in theory or practice."
