- "Mr. Edison has received your letter of 5th instant, and asks me to say in reply that he would have taken up actively the line of experiment which you suggest had he not been so busily engaged with his phonograph. He has by no means forgotten the matter, and at intervals, when he has an opportunity, he makes experiments, but these, of course, he is unable to pursue with any degree of regularity at the present time. Just as soon as the phonograph is out of his hands he will start a line of experiments in the separation of butter from milk, and follow them up vigorously." Yours very truly, A.O. Tate
