Title
[LB028539], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to William Allen, March 7th, 1889
Editor's Notes
"I do not understand the bills for cab hire which you render against the Laboratory. All the cabs which I use myself are charged to my account, and there is certainly no one in the Laboratory who has occasion to use cabs more than myself. Notwithstanding the fact that the amounts chargeable against me do not enter into Mr. Edison’s account, his bill is larger than my own. I presume you have no record of the names of the persons who ordered these cabs, referring particularly to the month of February; but, I beg to advise you now that in the future any person using a cab on account of this Laboratory will be supplied with a ticket, bearing my signature, and showing the points between which you have rendered service, and I will not accept any bills on account of the Laboratory unless they are accompanied by tickets such as I have referred to, covering each item charged against us by you." Yours truly, A.O. Tate
