"In reference to the attached letter from the Chicago Edison Company, in regard to explosions of junction boxes in the underground system in Chicago, and in reply to your letter of the 7th instant, the only thing I know of which will effectually overcome these difficulties, is chloroform. I am quite sure that if chloroform is used in the junction boxes of the Chicago system, the same as it has been in the New York uptown district, there will be no more trouble with explosions."
