Title

[LB028816], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to George Edward Gouraud, March 25th, 1889

Editor's Notes

"I have received your letter of 2nd instant, in regard to sending you copies of specifications and drawings which are filed in the United State Patent Office, instead of consolidating a number of claims as has been the custom of our attorneys Messrs. Dyer 7 Seely. ### I have submitted this matter to Dyer & Seely, also to Mr. Edison. Of course the former do not object to do anything that will save you expense, provided they at the same time are carrying out an arrangement which has the joint approval of yourself and Mr. Edison. I mention this fact because you suggested in your letter that the former might have some personal feeling in the matter, which I assure you does not exist. ### Mr. Edison says there are only two more cases to be sent you – one is being prepared now by Dyer & Seely, and the other will be ready in a few months – and these will complete the phonograph patents, and make me say to you that as this work is so nearly finished he would much prefer making no change in our present methods. ### The Germany powers which you sent for Mr. Edison's signature are returned herewith duly executed." Yours very truly, [signed] A.O. Tate
