- Editor's Notes
- "It has occurred to me that it would be well to have you look into the way in which the stock of the Edison Phonograph Works has been issued. There is a provision under the New Jersey laws in regard the certificates, but I do not know if this applies to the stock of the Edison Phonograph Works. The copy of the agreement between Mr. Edison and the Edison Phonograph Works, under date May 12th, 1886, which is in your hands, will explain the arrangement under which the stock has been issued. The certificates are signed by Mr. Edison, as President, and myself, as Treasurer, and if it is necessary for me to stamp them in order to protect any of the officers or directors, they are all available and I will take the necessary steps upon receiving advice from you, as requested above." Yours very truly [signed] A.O. Tate
