"Mr. Edison has received your letter of 29th ultimo, asking him to contribute to 'St. Nicholas' and article on the toy phonograph, and desires me to thank you for same. ### Mr. Edison regrets very much that it is impracticable for him to comply with your request and is sorry that he cannot avail himself of the opportunity thus offered to explain the half phonograph to the readers of your magazine. His experiments, however, demand so much of his personal attention, he never has any time at his disposal which he could devote to literary work. ### Again thank you for the letter."
