- Title
- [LB029221], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to W J Alder, April 24th, 1889
- Editor's Notes
- "Mr. Edison has received your letter of 10th instant, and asks me to say in reply that he has tried about twenty different forms of driving the phonogram. His latest form of screw, with its accompanying devices prevent the ignorant from damaging the thread. He has automatic machinery for cutting this screw at an exceedingly low cost. Mr. Edison says further that he cannot afford at present to make any changes in connection with the machine."
