Title
[LB029372], Letter from West Orange Laboratory to John Kruesi, Edison Machine Works, May 11th, 1889
Editor's Notes
"We send you to-day several samples of fire proof insulated wire. These wires stand test when heated by the current, but some of them burn when held in the flame of a Bunsen burner. They have been kept at a heat of 210°F, for 25 days, excepting the pure white ones. Nos. 581 and 588 are made by squirting fire proof compound on wire previously soaked in a non-fireproof compound. Regarding the fireproof compound simply as a protection against fire, and trusting to previous treatment for insulation, it seems to us that the wire can be made to serve." Yours very truly, Laboratory of TAE
