- Dear Sir:-- Referring to the joint letter addressed to you by Colonel Gouraud and myself, and which ws signed by me on the 7th day of November, 1888, and which states that "You are within the period of three calendar months to obtain from the Government of Mexico an exclusive license or concession to supply that Government with phonogras, manufactured in accordance with the present or any future invention or improvement of Mr. T. A. Edison," and which also provides that, "Within three calendar months after obtaining such licnese or concession you are to form or establish in England or the United States of America or the Republic of Mexico a Company&c.," and in answer to your letter under date 10th instant, asking me to name a date from which the three months above referred to shall commence to run, I beg to advise yiou that I am at present moment prepared to deliver to you the machines whch you requrie to enable you to start for Mexico, and, therefore, the term of three months above mentioned shall begin from the date of this letter.
