"Referring to the agreement between Mr. Edison and Lowell G. Briggs and W. W. Jacques, under date 1st day of October, 1887, and to Mr. Edison's various agreements with Mr. Lippincott and the Edison Phonograph Company, now in your hands, will you kindly let me know if Mr. Lippincott, or the Edison Phonograph Co., has any claim upon Mr. Edison's future inventions pertaining to speaking dolls, or if Mr. Edison is free in that respect?"
