"Extract from Minutes of first Meeting of Board of Directors of the Edison Phonograph Works held at the Office of the Company, Orange, N.J., Tuesday, June 25th, 1889. ### The Chairman then informed the Board that Mr. Tate was obliged to leave for Europe on the 2nd of July next, and that it would be necessary to elect a Treasurer to succeed Mr. Tate not later than July 1st. ### Mr. Tate then handed to the Board the following letter, dated July 1st, 1889:-- ### To the Directors of the Edison Phonograph Works, Orange N.J. ### Dear Sirs:-- I beg to resign my position as Treasurer of the Edison Phonograph Works, the same to take effect July 1st, 89. ### Yours truly, (Signed) A.O. Tate ### Upon motion Mr. Tate's resignation was accepted, and Mr. Batchelor then nominated Mr. Insull, as Treasurer of the Company, to take effect upon the 1st day of July, 1889. The motion having been duly seconded, a ballot was taken, and it was found that Mr. Insull had been unanimously elected, as Treasurer, from the date above named." [signed] TAE
