Title

[LB033303], Letter from Edison Manufacturing Co, Alfred Ord Tate to Colorado and Utah Phonograph Co, October 29th, 1889

Editor's Notes

The North American Phonograph Co. has handed us a copy of your letter to them, in regard to batteries, under date July 22nd. This date appears to be an error, either of the No. Am. Phono. Co. or of yours, as your communication must have been written some time during the present month. ### We regret exceedingly that you should have had so much trouble with the battery sent you from here, and it is our intention to take immediate steps to satisfy you in respect to power for your motor phonographs. We will send you towards the latter end of the week a new battery, which we have recently remodeled, together with full instructions for setting the same up, and we are sure that you will have no difficulty this time. The writer has had one of these batteries in his office, working a phonograph, since the 24th of September last. One the 6th of September we set up 12 cells on one of our phonoplex circuits, on the lines of the Pennsylvania Railroad, at Altoona which have been in daily use since then and they are still running as effectively as when first installed. We sent 8 cells to the office of the Gold & Stock Tel. Co., in New York, to run one of their motors, displacing a battery which required renewal every other day. These people have taken five hours a day of our cells [unclear] 23 consecutive days up to the present time, and the battery is still running. Very truly yours, Edison Manufacturing Co.
