- Editor's Notes
- Just before the receipt of your letter of 30th ultimo, stating that the Directory of the Lotos Club desires Mr. Edison to name two gentlemen whom he would be pleased to have invited to meet him at the proposed dinner on November 23rd, I had been requested by Mr. Edison to address a communication to you, informing you that he would be obliged to leave town about the middle of the previous month to be absent until some time in December. The business which takes Mr. Edison away was not anticipated when he accepted the very kind invitation which your Club has extended to him, and it is of such importance that it cannot well be postponed. He appreciates very highly the courtesy and generosity which prompted the action of your Club in this connection, and deeply regrets the unforeseen circumstance referred to above. Very truly yours, A.O. Tate
