Title

[LB034330], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to Electrical Advertising Scale Co, November 30th, 1889

Editor's Notes

Replying to your letter of 25th instant to Mr. Edison, I beg to inform you that the cells which you use in your business are very unreliable, owing to internal local action which causes them to polarize very rapidly. When Mr. Edison perfected the phonograph it was necessary for him to have a battery to run it, and he spent a great deal of time in perfecting a cell, which we are about placing on the market for all kinds of motor work. I enclose herewith a circular letter that we are now sending to the various electrical supply houses throughout the country, and which gives the details of this cell, which will doubtless be interesting to yourselves. If you desire further information more closely connected with your own work, we will be very happy to furnish it, in which case please advise us whether you use more than one class of motor and what these various kinds are. Yours very truly, AO Tate
